Swamp Pop Song

This is probably the most random post I’ve made on here.

I listen to a podcast called Cloverfeels with Steve Zaragoza and Mike Falzone. It is about the movie “Cloverfield” and the upcoming movie “10 Cloverfield Lane” and the ARG surrounding it. If that last sentence made no sense to you then neither will this song.

The hosts of that podcast asked the listeners to create songs surrounding the ARG of the movies and then it could be compiled onto an album. Our band name is John Goodman’s Face. So yes, I’m in a band. Haha. So I quickly created a song about Swamp Pop, a soft drink featured in the new movie and the drink itself was originally thought to be a part of the ARG (although it was later thought to be a hoax).

Once again, this is all totally random and stupid.

Gone Girl

I went and saw the movie Gone Girl last night.

It was the best movie I’ve seen since Guardians of the Galaxy!  Granted, I haven’t seen many movies since that one, and its only been a few months, but the past few weeks my wife and I wanted to see a movie but each week when we checked what was playing we felt they all looked truly crappy.  Gone Girl was the first movie that has looked appealing in a long time and it was really good.

I also appreciated how different it was.  It has multiple twists in it.  I even called the first one, but then it started going in a totally crazy direction that I don’t think anybody could predict.  Which is good!  I’m tired of boring movies that do the same old thing.

I would recommend checking out this movie, but be warned, the run time is two and a half hours.

Maze Runner Review (book)

I read and finished the book “The Maze Runner” last week.  I read it because the movie is coming out soon and my sister kept posting things about the movie saying how awesome it is going to be.  I think she also meant how “hot” the main character is, but whatever.  I still decided to read it.

Overall, the book was pretty good.  It has suspense, action and some mystery.  It obviously falls in line with a lot of the other movies that are being made right now which means that it is set in the future and deals with some dystopian themes.

After finishing the book I immediately pulled up the trailer on YouTube to watch it and see how it looks.  To my disappointment, although I should have expected it, the movie looks very different.  You can really tell they are changing many things for the movie.  The 3 things that I can tell are different from the trailer don’t seem to be horribly different, but that doesn’t bode well for the rest of the movie.  I’m going to see the movie on Friday (if my wife finishes the book) and then I’ll write a post comparing the book to the movie.

Overall I’d give the book a 6/10 so its a decent read if you have free time.  It goes by pretty quick.  I’m not sure if I’ll read the other books in the series because many reviews say they get worse and worse as the series goes on.

What are your thoughts on The Maze Runner?  Have you read it?  Do you plan on seeing the movie?
